Weekend

We had an amazing time camping. It started raining hard when we had two days left, and the tent I picked up at fred meyer (I know better...) started leaking like crazy. I planned on taking it to Michigan, but we returned it instead, when we came home a day early. It was really nice to be home for a full day before jodie had to go back to work today. We spent our Sunday doing wonderfully dirty things to each other when the kid was napping and after bedtime.  And in between, we had tons of fun with Oliver and the dog - great dog park time and yummy dinner and a movie on the projector. I feel so content with my little family.
One of the best things while camping was that we did have a couple moments of tension that could have turned into big huge fights, but they didn't. We worked it out with the love and compassion we have for each other. We're going in the right direction. I still haven't made our counseling appointment, but I think it will have to wait until jodie starts her new job in a couple weeks.
We did a nice little ritual where we shared our fears and secrets by writing them on paper and reading them out loud then burning them. I have such enormous love for this person - she's so tender. Sometimes I lose sight of that because she covers it up with tough and pride. And I cover everything up with anger and judgement. Oh boy.

Anyway. I have a corned beef in the oven and zelda's coming over for dinner. Our house is a mess and I'm excited to blast some music and whip this place into shape. One week to my last term of grad school. Did I mention I finished up every last little bit of coursework for my degree? Now to write a thesis...
