charlz_lynnI drove 13 hours today by myself.
I came home and couldn't figure out what was different in my house. One light bulb burnt out in the kitchen and..... what else? Oh. Right. The Brute is not here.
Bugger.
What a weird birthday. What a weird trip. I feel much closer to my family now, regardless of hurtful and ignorant things said over the kitchen table. I saw people, my step mom's family, who I haven't seen in twelve years.
I saw the girl I was in love with in high school -- whose parents moved her out of our school district and got a restraining order against me when they found out she was in love with a girl --and met her baby. HUng out with other great friends, including my bff since third grade, Jessy. So much fun. Girls' night.
I am so different from those people. I am home. And I am leaving in just over a week to go where I'm even more different -- North Carolina.
