I walked and walked and walked all day yesterday and today. I was walking today thinking about how I couldn't wait to get home and post to my LJ about how fucked it is trying to find a job in New York, when the strangest thing happened... I GOT A JOB! What?!
I've been obsessively on craigslist and trying to make a resume, and then just going into every business I could find where I wouldn't necessariy be turned away because I'm not the business owner's family. Today it was feeling more and more hopeless, and I kept almost giving up. Then I'd see something else and say "okay, one more," and finally, the one more turned out to be hiring. She sat me down for an interview right then, and then hired me. I'll train next week, and start the next. It's at the Flying Saucer Cafe, so I'll be slinging coffee and making sandwiches.
The downsides are that it really doesn't pay shit (no, really), and what it does pay is under the table. But you know what? I don't care! I can get another part-time job, and maybe make enough to pay rent. Yay!
Kay, that's all... I read now.
I know, there's so much more, but sometimes when you're MIA for so long, catching up is just not worth it. xo
