Oh that feeling...

I had that feeling about last night, and woke up with a baby still in me and no contractions. However, in my mad dash to the bathroom, my water broke. Just a bit. About 1/4 cup of amniotic fluid. Oh boy! And so I've been kinda waiting all day for contractions to start and... nada. My midwife came by and listened in on the baby. His heartbeat is perfect. She said probably within the next three days I'll be holding him in my arms.
The exact science of childbirth might just drive me into a new kind of crazy.

Date: 2009-12-07 02:31 am (UTC)Here's something about the science of childbirth that I think is cool:
amniotic fluid contains a lot of prostaglandins, which are what softens your cervix. So, having your water break a bit will help your cervix soften, which will help it efface/open... which is awesome!
Good luck on this journey!! I hope it is wonderful!!
