I got the summer teaching gig! I'm so relieved. I found out a couple weeks ago, but it's been unclear exactly when I'm teaching. It's the ideal thing. Two classes three days a week, from June 22-July 12, then I leave for Michigan. And I get paid a full summer salary for the three weeks of work. So much money. It's a huge privilege, and I'm excited to do it again.
I'm walking in the departmental commencement tomorrow. It feels a little funny because I still have my whole thesis to write. But, I don't want to wait until next summer, since I'm hopefully going to be working out something by then. I applied to teach science at an alternative school for kids with learning disabilities. High school. They may not consider me because my degree is pending... but what if?
It feels like an exciting time. If I don't get that job, there's a good chance I'll get to TA at PSU again. They never have enough people, and I'm good at what I do. I love what I do! It feels so special to get to teach people about what I love most, and to help them figure out how to learn biology. It can be so hard to get the hang of it.
Anyway. I'm off to try, real hard, to be productive on my thesis today. I've got a pretty good outline going. Here we go.
Edited to say: I wonder why lj is changing 'f i g u r e' to 'div'? I've seen it on others' posts too. Weird.
