My instinct, especially since you're looking to save money, would be to skip the ultrasound unless you're worried about the position of your placenta or some other non-shingles issue. If the baby is growing (which you can tell by the fact that your uterus is growing and from a manual exam) and moving (duh! wiggles!) then there isn't anything that an ultrasound can tell you with regards to shingles affecting the baby.
