Nov. 30th, 2008 10:16 pmMy step mom passed away this afternoon. She's had liver cancer, and it's been a crazy roller coaster of a year. Two weeks ago I really thought she was having a miraculous turnaround, but when I spoke with my step-siblings and my dad on Thanksgiving, they told me she had rapidly declined. And then yesterday morning my dad called me, sobbing, to let me know that they had moved her to Hospice.
My Dad seems to be doing okay. He's been watching the love of his life suffer for two years, and now he can rest with the knowledge that she's standing before Jesus. I'm so grateful for his faith right now. His mom and sister are in North Carolina with him, thank god, and they are moving her to Michigan for services. This will be my first funeral.
I'm meeting them all in Michigan in a couple days -- getting my car fixed tomorrow, leaving Tuesday, dropping my boyfriend at the airport and driving to Flint.
I can't wait to hug my dad and my brother and sister.
