And, occasionally, I support vandalism.

I LOVE my mechanic. He's just a really nice down to earth kinda guy. I took Millicent there last month, after she'd been broken down a month, and got a couple little things done on her, hoping it would fix the problem (she wasn't starting). Well, she started right up for him after being towed there, so we went with the $60 fix - fuel and air filters. Then, after getting her back, my mom drove her to work about 45 minutes away and back, I took her to the store, and the next day she didn't start again.
To get her back to the mechanic, I jacked up the rear end - simulating what happened when she was put on the tow truck - and after I lowered it again, she fired right up.
I'd thought it was my fuel pump before -- when she broke down in portland -- and after the tow I felt quite certain... Like, jacking it up splashed the gas where it needed to go. In Portland I was quoted around $700 for it. He quoted me at $300.
When he told me I said "Wow, that's so much less than I've been quoted before."
"Yeah, well, you prolly heard around 6 or 7 hundred. Most guys are chargin ya ninety dollas an hour labor. I don't need to make that much money."
What? I love him.
So, now it's done, along with an oil change, and my grand total is $315. I'm so excited! I get my car back! Starting! Running!! Woohoo!

It's been hard being stranded here. I've been sleeping weird hours and having a hard time getting motivated to do the little things I need to do.... like housework. And writing hasn't been coming easy. I'm having that classic "nobody wants to read about this" problem. So I can get out now for a bit. I have a growing list of friends with projects to pick up a little cash and maybe I can kill two birds with one stone and even socialize a little. Being alone this much is really pretty strange. Like, I don't even know how to interact with my mom when she gets home after I haven't spoken to a single person all day. Weird.

The party this weekend was SO much fun. What a nice group of people. Good lord, we're so lucky. SO SO SO lucky.
And tonight, I get to go have dinner with most of them again in Providence. Holy shit. Hell yes.
