A word of thanks.
Mar. 25th, 2007 08:14 pmThanks for everything you all said in response to the last post, about my little cousin.
I asked my aunt Sal if they wanted help. Like, if we should be doing some kind of fund-raiser. She didn't seem that offended, just told me that they were okay, and they have a good lawyer because my family is pretty huge, and we have a few connections. And emotionally I feel pretty wrecked over it, but G is excellent support... So i don't need much.
BUT what I will ask of everyone is to please send some love and energy in the direction of flint michigan. Because you know that woman-love shit works miracles (or other-love if you don't fall into that category)... like, look at tyler, and all others in our community who have been sick, in trouble, in a bad way... etc.
and then onemore little thing. I want to send him books. I have to choose these very carefully because, well, it's complicated... they need to meet this criteria:
1. Be of interesting subject matter to a 15-year-old in jail in michigan... who has never left the state.
2. Be something he can relate to.
3. Not make him feel stupid, or spoken down to.
4. Hopefully not be too anger-producing.
5. If political, not be too blatantly liberal, so as not to piss off other members of my family.
6. like, probably not michael moore.
ok! so.. i think that narrows it down to 2 or 3 books, does anyone know what they might be? cause i'm lost... let me know if you have any ideas.
xo.
