GSA and other things

So, no one showed up for the GSA yesterday. It was 4/20, and a beautiful day... So, hopefully next week. Does anyone have any book suggestions for the kids? They are high school students, I believe the population of this school is pretty poor, and none of them are going to be out to their parents. I feel really honored to be working with these kids, and I hope it takes off at least a little. Even if there are only three of them that show up I will be happy.

In other news, The Brute and I are meeting with our potential midwife tomorrow morning! This is suuuuper exciting to me. I am ready to begin regular care. And according to What to Expect and the Mayo Clinic book, we can see the baby with an ultrasound in two weeks! Holy crap! It's a fetus!

I just applied for two jobs (in person) and walked in Seward Park. It's a good day, but I am really feeling the pregnant-lady exhaustion today. I'm going to take a nap now, but I'm afraid this will just mean I am going to bed at 7pm. Maybe I will watch a movie first. But is that any better, really? I think it feels better.

I keep forgetting to mention that I had a great time on my date last week. Fun. Hot. We'll be doing that again, maybe once every other week or so...

maybe the kiddies were enjoying 4/20 and forgot. hopefully some will show soon.
good luck with the job stuff, don't let the process intimidate you... at least that's what I tell myself while jumping through silly lil hopes.
If you wanna send me your res, maybe I can take some time and look for vacancies, also let me know what type of jobs you're looking for.

Have you read Mariko Tamaki's graphic novel, Skim? It's about a queer goth half-japanese wiccan highschool student.

Also, I think Kate Bornstein's book about suicide/living is a great conversation piece. http://www.hellocruelworld.net/

Wooooo! Fetus! yeah!

it's not gay, but stargirl is really great. the author's last name is spinelli.

my friend oona is a big fan of gay ya fiction. i'll ask her what she's read. the last stuff i borrowed from her was called rainbow high (but i don't recommend it).

good luck with gsa and also yr baby stuff!

do they want more reading assignments?

i'd say bring in magazines they prolly can't have at home: glu, the advocate, curve, bitch, etc.

they are also in internet age and can get a lot of gay culture online - why not recommend movie nights and watch shit like another gay movie, mama mia and the incredible true story...

who knows? i'm so outdated. i'm all stone butch blues all up in here.
