craftliness

A fawn, an elephant, and a humpback walk into my living room...

The elephant makes me think of a burglar. I think I might keep him.

Hopefully I'll do a water buffalo tomorrow -- painted.

Ah, the deer was a gift, but I can paint you one if you want.
how much would one spend on a little block animal?

I would love to do a pink owl!! Especially for you! I was thinking in that range but thought it was too much. So, cool. That as a sliding scale is nice.
Yay! I love you!

I've been thinking of it. I'm getting a surplus of stuff, but I keep feeling like the time it takes makes it impractical to sell them.
Maybe not, though, if people would pay 15-20 bucks...
The sock animals, though.... those would be way too expensive.

ppl would totally pay that. original art? duh.
also, it would be rad if they had some little loops for hanging on the back.
ask gilly what she charges, how she does it. yesss! i love this idea!!!

I've been thinking about how to hang them... I have a couple ideas. It's very exciting, indeed. I've been tossing it around, thanks so much for the encouragement and the support!
Remind me again how come we don't live in the same place?

you can think about it like..."what would you expect your time is worth?"
did it take you 2 hours? is your craftliness worth $10 an hour?

they are rockin cool btw

Thanks!

This is actually my dilemma, because for craft/artmaking I feel like 10/hr is not much. And the things take a long long time. Longer than 2 hours, often. Especially the ones I design myself just from pictures of actual animals -- I'm not fast in that regard.

Sooo.... I like to just give things away as gifts, because I feel like in order to justify selling my time to strangers in this way I would have to ask tooooo much.

But, the more I do it the faster I get, so I'm gonna give it a shot.

Lots of love to you.
xoxo

a have a friend who paints awesome line drawing goofiness. she went crazy painting one summer and so we made her get a booth at a city summer fest because she had so damn many. her idea was to make the paintings sized so you could put them in your cargo pocket and walk off with your treasure. she charged like 30-40 bucks....because, hell its art, man. and she wanted people to appreciate it. if no one wanted to buy them (paying her for her cool brain, her time and her talent) then she would enjoy them herself....
moral of the story: if people want it, they should pay you for your time, your heart and your labor.

and you rock.
