I watched the first episode and felt like someone had come at my brain with a melonballer. There was no thoughtful self-examination of the participants' internalized (or sometimes externalized--the white dad kept making up stories of people calling him "Nigger/a" when he was in black makeup) racisms. The white people were all saying "ha ha, how will we act and talk black? I guess we just need to loosen up!" and the black people all said, "ha ha, actually yeah, and acting white will be easy because that's what you do to get ahead when you're black."
Awesome. Unfortunately from what I understand there are a lot of people who think it's really daring and bold and illuminating and a bunch of adjectives that only work if you use their antonyms as descriptors instead.
Anyway. There's plenty of fucked up tv...it makes me want to stick to the food network.
